A very high quality English Victorian solid sterling silver travelling inkwell. It is hallmarked for London 1847 with the maker's mark being FD for Frances Douglas. It has been beautifully engraved with scrolls and the crest of what appears to be the Bowden family. It is in superb condition.
The silver is free from dings splits and repairs. The glass is free from cracks chips and repairs. It is a good usable size measuring approx. 3 inches (7.6cms) by 1.25 inches by almost 1.5 inches tall and weighs 140 grams.
