STERLING SILVER Antique Peony Locket Pendant Floral Victorian Chatelaine Fob Box

  
Lovely Victorian antique sterling silver locket pendant or small chatelaine pill box in an interesting form with two bales at the top and a screw top latch on the bottom of the piece to open it. Could hold a trinket or charms, lock of hair, photo or other keep sake or could also serve on a chatelaine set as a small pill box, or possibly a small section of makeup or lip gloss. Has pretty engravings on both sides, some floral with one section that looks like a peony flower, and other swirling designs, I'm not quite sure what of. It would make a beautiful pendant worn on your favorite chain and it's useful too! Could be a unique and lovely gift as well. I acquired this in Europe, and it does have a maker's mark next to the silver stamp, but I could not figure out who it belongs to. It looks like N D with a shape in between. The piece measures about 1 1/4 inches wide by 1 3/4 inches tall from the bale to the screw when it is screwed in. About 5/8 of an inch thick. Marked 925 on the top of the screw top for Sterling Silver, also marked with a maker's mark I could not identify. Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned with some age to them so they are in estate condition.

No deep dings or dents, it has held its shape. The hinge is very tight and the screw top works perfectly to hold it closed and to open it. Surface wear and scratching from use and polishing over the years, a few nicks here or there.

The screw takes several twists and quite a bit of length to open it, so it does not twist tight closed, but shouldn't fall open since it takes about 6 turns to twist the screw out to open it. Let me know if that doesn't make sense. Plenty of years left in this old, unique piece. But Please note that due to age this piece is not in mint condition.
