Scottish Sterling Silver Inkstand by Hamilton & Inches Antique Victorian. A magnificent, fine and impressive antique Victorian Scottish sterling silver inkstand made by Hamilton & Inches; an addition to our ornamental silverware collection.

This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver desk standish has a rectangular form. The surface of the inkstand incorporates a large concave pen receiver.

The body of this antique silver inkstand incorporates two ink bottle receivers, retaining the original square glass ink bottles with cut glass ornamentation. The ink bottles retain the original reed decorated hallmarked silver plateau mounts, fitted with hinged hallmarked covers; the two mounts sit flush to the standish body and are detachable, allowing access to the glass vessels. The two internal ink bottle compartments flank a rectangular stamp box. This central box is fitted with a hinged hallmarked cover, reflecting the reed decoration of the ink bottles. Each compartment of this exceptional example of Victorian silverware is encompassed with applied gadroon decorated borders. This antique hallmarked silver inkstand is supported by four impressive bracket style feet.

This silver ink standish, crafted by the renowned Scottish silversmiths Hamilton & Inches, is the finest of its type you could hope to acquire. This antique Hamilton and Inches silver inkstand is a superior gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Each component of this impressive piece has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. The cut glass ink bottles are in perfect condition. Full hallmarks struck to the posterior surface of the inkstand, the rim of the bottle mounts and interior of the bottle covers, in addition to part hallmarks to the interior of the stamp box cover are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the superior gauge of silver.
