This rare and amazing sterling lady's belt buckle was made in 1899 in Glasgow, Scotland by James Forrest. In addition to being all hand pierced, it is also chased and engraved with acanthus leaves, flowers, vines and an anthemion on each end. The buckle also has two empty cartouches that were probably meant for monograms (none present). The buckle is so exquisitely made that when joined it fits perfectly with no gaps. The buck is arched to fit comfortably and is 6.25" wide x 2.75" tall.
It is heavily made and weighs 83.8 grams. I can find no damage on this lovely piece. This item is in the category "Antiques\Silver\Sterling Silver (.925)\Other Antique Sterling Silver".
