Although this is a wonderful antique there's a lot to recommend this as a working piece of silver since it has signs of wear in the form of dents to the inner bowl (mostly on the base) various spots which can be rubbed out and a kink in the pedestal base which gives it a bit of a rock. This might need a tap or two delivered by the right person.
The bowl was obviously in good use at some point. The hallmarks are rubbed but still readable. It has a lot going for it though. It has not been inscribed or monogrammed, the decorative work on the rim is simple and would match a kings pattern dinner service quite nicely. The outside of the bowl is in good condition and might want a bit of buffing but it still looks smooth and shiny and not particularly over-worn. It is also generously sized and can be used as more than a punch bowl in a modern house.
