On offer is this magnificent, Victorian era, cased 4 piece carving set. Beautifully crafted, the handles are likely bone, with sterling silver collars (ferrules) and covers to the ends of the handles, in a repousse rams heads, beading and foliage/scrolls. The sterling silver is hallmarked : HH for Harrison Brothers & Howson, Sheffield, Sterling, 1886 (T) and 1888 (V).
The blades are stamped'V crown R Harrison Bros & Howson Cutlers to Her Majesty' ie. The smaller poultry set: Knife measures 33cm in length. The fork measures 27.7cm in length. The larger meat set: Knife measures 41cm in length. The fork measures 30.5cm in length. Raw unpackaged weight of 1.4kg.In good antique condition - the silver is in very good condition. Some wear to the steel commensurate. The colour of the handles is darker on the side that sits in the casing (these have possibly been left as a display pset in direct sunlight for a number of years).
