800 Sterling Silver, 18k Yellow Gold Accents. Material: Mahogany Wood, Leather Whip. Item Measurements: This item measures 32.10 long measuring both parts of the item together. The wooden portion alone measures 17.10" long and up to 1.02" wide.

The leather portion of the item measures 15" long by 0.93" wide. Men's or Women's: Unisex. Handmade during the Art Nouveau era. This gorgeous item is composed of. 800 sterling silver and mahogany wood.

The mahogany wood is a gorgeous red-brown hue, and features natural grain patterns. This item is a riding whip from the Victorian era. The silversmith work is museum quality, and features a gorgeous foliate motif in high and low relief. The foliate motif would have been made using the repousse technique.

The repousse technique dates back as far as the 3rd century BC and involves hand hammering silver into beautiful and intricate patterns. This item is also adorned with hand chased details. The chasing technique involves hand etching precious metals with lovely designs. The silver portions of the foliate motif are also adorned with 18k yellow gold in some areas.

The cool silver tones of the gold are gorgeous against the warm 18k yellow gold hues of the accents, and every portion of this item serves to bring out the best in the other. The leather portion of the whip is no longer attached to the item itself.

However, this item is intended to be displayed rather than utilized, so this does not affect the overall use of the item at all. Light tarnish on the sterling silver gives this piece an antique quality which we believe is quite lovely.
