Also inscribed inside the top reading Mrs. G E Wilson JR" and "Clinton, Iowa. Clinton is a town of interest as it was thriving at the end of the nineteenth century because of its location on the Mississippi.

Lumber passed through the town as it travelled downriver. I imagine Mark Twain remarking on the town during his riverboat days.

I'm any case, this is a beautiful, solid sterling silver mesh bag in overall good condition. There are two minor places that have unthreaded wire as far as I can tell, a single ring from the bottom of the bag and some unwinding at the lip, both as photographed. Of course please enlarge the photographs to get the best sense of condition. This has moderate patina and could use a polish if one so desired. Satisfaction and authenticity 100% guaranteed.
