Antique Australian Victorian Hinged Sterling Silver Swallow Bangle Bracelet
Antique Hinged Sterling Silver Australian Swallow Bangle. This beautiful antique bangle is in very good condition. The cuff bangle or bracelet is engraved to the front with swallows and Australian Grass Trees. The use of the swallow is a symbol of safe homecoming in Victorian times and was often used in jewellery. The piece has a box clasp and a pin hinge both typical of Victorian era bangles.
There are no markings to this piece which is not unusual for Australian jewellery as there has never been and still isn't a requirement to mark precious metals. The hinge is working as it should and the clasp secures well with an audible snap.There are fine scratches and tiny marks from use and faint indents to the back as shown. There is no damage to the silver. The bangle is 63mm x53mm x 15mm wide. Please note this item is original and not a copy or modern day reproduction.
