Superbly decorative Victorian sterling silver presentation salver of importance to the royal burgh of Tain in the Highlands of Scotland. This large, heavy-duty silver salver has a moulded and attractive rim and is profusely engraved with an elaborate decorative pattern and sits on three large moulded feet. The central cartouche is engraved. "PRESENTED ALONG WITH SILVER TEA SERVICE AND PURSE OF SOVEREIGNS TO DR & MRS MACKENZIE, BY A FEW FRIENDS ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR LEAVING TAIN MAY 1896". Maker's Mark: Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company (William Gibson & John Lawrence Langman).
