Hello everyone, This is a wide Victorian silver bangle with beautiful floral engraving. The engraving includes forget-me-not flowers and leaves. The bangle has some signs of wear normal for its age. There are no major dents or scratches. It is marked STG Silver for sterling silver. The bangle measures approx 55mm internally across the width by 50mm and is oval in shape. The bangle is approx 30mm deep and opens to approx 70mm. The bangle has a tongue clasp working order. The Victorian era saw epic romances, greattragedies and growing prosperity. The jewels of the period reflectedthese changes and are divided into the Romantic, the Grand and theAesthetic. The supply of gold was limited and so many pieceswere light and open and often made from rolled gold, sheet plate and engravedor chased.
Pieces were soldered at the back and jewels were decorated withstones and often natural materials such as pearls and shell. Sentimental themes were the order of the day andjewels were given as love tokens, brooches and lockets, love knots, claspedhands, love birds and serpents were popular and held hidden messages. Hi and thank you for looking at mylisting. I collect the unusual and rare, not necessarily expensive, I likethe history and craftsmanship and skill in antique and vintage pieces and ofcourse anything with a good sparkle! Jewellery reflects the design ofeach decade, style and different cultures or countries and I lovethings that tell a story.
I like to imagine where that piece ofjewellery has been worn and by who. There is always something new to learn!
